It has been a long journey for fans of Days of Our Lives, but for those who persevered, this week promises to deliver great rewards. The baby switch will be revealed in full and the lives that this dastardly plan touched will be forever changed.

Sami Witnesses a Murder
It was 13 months ago when the feisty character, Sami Brady, was placed into the witness protection program by her father, Roman, after she witnessed a murder at the DiMera mansion. Little did anyone know that Sami was pregnant with E.J. DiMera’s baby. She fought with her own self-conscience whether to tell him about the baby, but events always seemed to circumvent the news. While in FBI care, she began to seek solace at the convent nearby. Her plan was to place her daughter in their care until she was released from the program.

One Woman's Despair ...
In the meantime, Nicole Walker DiMera, who also happened to be pregnant with E.J.’s baby, suffered a terrible miscarriage. She felt in her heart that E.J. was still in love with Sami and the only way Nicole had a chance of continuing a relationship with him was held in the promise of having his baby.

A miscarriage is every mother’s nightmare and out of grief or despair, many women act out. Nicole’s heartbreak led her to devise a plan that would ensure her place in the DiMera family tree. The doctor who treated her for the miscarriage also dabbled in the baby black-market. Dr. Baker, in exchange for continuous monetary rewards, put Nicole in touch with an unwed teen, Mia, who was about as far along as Nicole would have been.

... Turns to Desperation
Nicole convinced Mia to give up her baby. She paid her handsomely and gave Mia a one-way ticket to Japan to dance with an elite company. In the meantime, Nicole discovered that Sami was pregnant with E.J.’s baby and that is when she decided that she must have Sami’s baby. Disguised as Mary, a destitute woman, Nicole convinced Sister Theresa that Dr. Baker’s clinic had the best childbirth facilities in the area. Armed with this knowledge, Mother Theresa convinced Sami to have her baby there.

The fact that the babies were delivered on the same night meant it was divine intervention for Nicole. In her mind, there could be no other explanation for the way the pieces fell into place. She knew then that she was meant to raise Sami and E.J.’s daughter. Dr. Baker dutifully switched Mia’s baby with Sami’s baby and thus began a year of nail-biting twists and turns in the fates of these two babies.

Nicole has worked very hard at making sure Dr. Baker is silenced and Mia never tells. She often let information slip about the baby switch and would then quickly cover her tracks. The journey has been anything but peaceful for Nicole. Her plan began to unravel quickly as with any good book, the pages peeled back and exposing, one at a time, to reveal the depth and diversity of the twisted tale.

A Public Fall from Grace
This week, we find out that Nicole not only bought a baby, but stole one as well. The downfall of Nicole will touch the lives of many. Rafe will put all the pieces of the puzzle together and give Sami the news, despite the fact that he may lose her to E.J. Brady, who loves Nicole from afar, will feel betrayed, perhaps even rage at her callous acts. The relationship between Nicole, E.J., and Sami will never be the same again. Nicole will go to jail for trying to mend her own broken heart; E.J. will be forced to deal with yet another lie from his lover; and Sami, will get her happy ending … finally.
