Seduce Me in Shadow

Seduce Me in Shadow
Hello, and welcome back! If you’re a fan of autumn, you’re in luck here in our area, because it’s definitely arrived. Somehow, we missed out on the Indian Summer everyone talks about, but that’s okay with me, because I had more than enough of summer when it was here. I think I’m ready now for winter. Cold, snowy days when you can sit with a mug of tea or hot chocolate and read away the afternoon. That sounds like a good day to me.

This time out, I have the last of our October book reviews, Seduce Me in Shadow (Pocket) by Shayla Black, the second in her ‘Doomsday Brethren’ series. Sydney Blair’s latest story about the paranormal has garnered the attention of Caden MacTavish. Caden is trying only to help his brother, in mourning for his missing mate, and doesn’t want anything to do with his own magical heritage, to the point that he’s gone to a whole other country and made a completely new life for himself. But that magic is growing harder to resist, nearly as difficult as resisting the alluring Sydney when they butt heads over her plans for further investigative reporting, not to mention the Doomsday Diary she got as a gift. The non-magical Sydney believes very much in the capabilities of the book, and in other magic as well, but her latest story hasn’t just gotten Caden’s attention: now the evil wizard Mathias knows she has the book and his intentions for it are not good for mankind, or magickind, for that matter. Sydney and Caden must work together while Caden tries to resist the need to make Sydney his own mate and the need to give in to the magic brewing inside him. These two have some seriously hot chemistry between them right from the start, and your fingers will be scorched by the pages. Then there are the secondary characters you can’t wait to see more of in further books in the series. Sure, there are some silly names for some of the characters, but they’re not too distracting, so I don’t mind them here, unlike in another popular series. Also unlike that other series, this one is not all darkness and gloom. There are enough lighter moments here to satisfy every reading craving you have for a good paranormal romance. If you haven’t read these yet and love paranormal romances, you need to run to your bookstore and pick up Tempt Me with Darkness, as well as Seduce Me in Shadow, then grab the new one, too. This one’s earned four of Cupid’s five arrows. I’m looking forward to digging into the next one, too.

Until next time, happy reading!
