"Curvy. Confident. Chic."
I have been reading Marie Denee's words for almost half a year, both in her blog and in her Twitter posts. This fall I got to share in the excitement of her opening her plus size boutique albeit online.
Marie Denee has created a website presence where you won't find the kind of clothing that you would find at Old Navy. Marie Denee's shop is for high fashion clothing created by high fashion designers who love the plus size form and often times share in it. After all, why should high fashion be delegated to those a size six and under.
When I asked Marie Denee why she opened up her online boutique she said, "Lack of a place that housed all my favorite designers and fashions for the curvy woman! All within an amazing layout and presentation."
Over the coming year Marie Denee will offer plus size clothing (and accessories) by designers such as: Amanda Uprichard, B.G.U., Berkshire, Betsey Johnson, Candied Apple Couture, Cette, CoQo, David Kahn, David Meister, Disismi, Embody Denim, Gayla Bentley, Igigi, Jibri, Kenneth, Kingley and Posh, Kiyonna, La Dans Closet, Laura Edminston, Lotis, Marie Melodie, Melissa Masse, Mode Merr, Monif C, Oola Lingerie, Jane, Lane, Qristyl Frazier, Sand Maiden, Spree Girl Curves, Streets Ahead, Stop Staring, Yummie Tummie, and YY Studio. And the search continues for more great designers!
There's a nasty rumor going around that there is a lack of selection and sizing for plus size women. In the department store; yes, but not online. So how did Marie Denee choose her designers? She says, "I pulled from the best that I have featured on my blog, and what I could find across the Internet!"
The Curvy Fashionista is Marie Denee's blog. It is a visual representation that there is more to plus size fashion than the media would have us believe. Marie Denee delivers a commentary to her readers about high end fashion, every day fashion, trends on the runway, up and coming designers to watch and any other plus news of the day.
Finding the perfect outfit is a different experience for each person but I was curious what Marie Dee would consider the perfect outfit: "Laying the right foundation, an outfit that defines your curves, and accessories that polish you off! Last but not least, Confidence!"
