Halloween Tags

Guest Author - Sarah Roop

Tags are a popular medium right now in the rubber stamping world and these Halloween tags are fun, funky, and very timely. Tags can be used as card elements, in scrap booking, and as – well – tags! These Halloween tags show some of the many things you can do to achieve a spooky look that will embellish any project, favor, or gift.

Name Tag

This tag is made to leave room to put a person’s name at the top of the card.

Materials needed:
• Distress Inks
• Ink Blending Tool
• Shipping Tag Punch
• Halloween Stamps
• Tim Holtz Fragments
• Cardstock
• Glossy Accents
• Mini Mister
• Heat tool

Take your Shipping tag punch and punch out number of tags needed from your cardstock. Using your Ink Blending Tool blend your Distress Inks over the tag. When you are done with that, take your mini mister and, using clear water, lightly spray your cardstock. Dry with heat tool. This will give an aged, weathered effect. Using black Distress ink, stamp your image onto the bottom of the tag. Do not worry if it goes off the edges a bit, this will add to the effect. Allow ink to air dry or dry with heat gun. Distress inks take a bit more time to dry than standard inks, but their effect is wonderful.

When image is completely dry, take a small Fragment and put a bit of Glossy accents on the back of it. Place it over a portion of the image you want to accentuate. I used a round one over the bats to give an impression of them flying in front of the moon. The Glossy Accents will adhere the Fragment quickly and invisibly. Now you are ready to add the names to your tags.

Raven Tag

A good use for an ATC stamp, making your tag quick and easy.

Materials needed: (Available at Sarilyn Crafts)
• ATC Stamp
• Distress Inks
• Ink Blending Tool
• Mini Mister
• Perfect Pearls
• Heat tool
• Large Tag

As in the tag above, use your blending tool and Distress inks to blend your inks over your tag. I used a large white shipping tag for the base. After you have added your inks to your liking, stamp your image with Walnut Stain distress ink, leaving some room at the bottom of the tag. After you have stamped your image, tear the very bottom portion off of the tag and use your blending tool and inks to color the torn edge, and also to enhance any areas of the image you wish.

Take your mini mister and add some perfect pearls to it. Just a bit on the end of the brush that comes with the Perfect Pearls kit of your choice is perfect. I used Forever Green from the Jewels Kit. Add water and shake well. Spritz your tag with this mixture and use your heat gun to dry it. Do not worry if your tag curls, it will straighten out as it dries. This will add some shimmer to your design as well as add a weathered look to your tag. Your stamped image will blur slightly, adding to the effect.
