For those gardeners on your holiday shopping list, consider books on gardening and related subjects. Here are some recommended titles.
“Rachael Ray Make Your Own Takeout Deck” compiles over 50 of Ray’s favorite make your own take out (M.Y.O.T.O.) recipes. This was released by Clarkson Potter Style. This deck makes a very suitable gift for gardeners because these wholesome recipes feature fresh produce. Use the deck as hostess gifts or stocking stuffers for the holidays.
The cards feature all types of take-out dishes. There are sections for each type of cuisine. These include Indian, Tex-Mex, Thai and Chinese. This also has a section for pizza and burgers/sammies. A trifold card at the beginning features the table of contents with a list of all of the recipes given under each specialty.
Quick and easy to make, these recipes are made with fresh, healthy ingredients. They take 30 minutes or less to make.
On the front of each card is a lush color photo of the dish. Then, inside the card is a list of ingredients. Instead of making a shopping list, just slip the card in your purse and take it with you as you shop. The cards also feature various variations for each recipe. These offer suggestions on what to add or substitute.

This edition is very special for several reasons. The cover was done by the poet for the original edition. This is a reprint of the first edition that was published in 1925. Lines that were deemed as indecent in 1925 have been restored. This book is remarkable not only for its subject matter but also for the fact that it was the poet’s very first attempt at free verse.
These poems are just as refreshing and inspiring as when they were originally published. At the end of each poem the poet noted his location at the time it was written. Lawrence organized these poems by their subject matter. He also did an introduction to each section.
So far as the topics are concerned, these address nature and a range of organisms from trees and different sorts of animals to flowers and fruits of all sorts. There are also poems on several other topics as well, such as peace, the supernatural, and the four apostles.
“Albert Speer and Partner-A Manifesto for Sustainable Cities-Think Local, Act Global” by Jeremy Gaines et al was released by Prestel. This has over 150 illustrations with 120 of these being in color. The illustrations include photos, drawings, renderings, and plans of the projects done by the firm.
Well-written and easy to read, this presents many of the cutting-edge projects completed by the firm during the last forty years. This book addresses each issue and offers practical approaches to sustainable development. For the projects, the firm came up with practical earth-friendly solutions, such as providing transportation and leaving enough green space and farmland to support agriculture around cities.
Though these recommendations sound pretty simple, these topics are largely ignored by many planners.
