Your Limiting Beliefs

I started reading a book entitled, "7 Ultimate Success Secrets," by Martin Franzen.. As a result of one of the first sections of the book dealing with "limiting beliefs," I had to make a list of what my limiting beliefs were that were holding me back, in my life as well as my bowling. The purpose for making the list, of course, is to recognize my limiting beliefs and to rid myself of those beliefs so that I can do better.

So, I began paying closer attention to what people were saying with particular emphasis on their, "limiting beliefs." Boy, did I get a full list of, "negative-speak!" I have written before about positive-thinking and being bombarded in our daily live with negative comments (and thoughts), but, was I surprised as the list just kept growing and growing with each passing moment. We are truly living in a world where it is almost impossible to get away from negative-speak unless we become hermits. If you were to concentrate on listening for these negative sounding comments over the next few days, you will see what I mean.

Here's a half-dozen comments/statements I wrote down: "I'm not really athletic," "My age holds me back from doing better," "In all my life, I was never able to do that well," "I always think that my ball will be falling into the gutter," "I am waiting until everything is just right before I take a bowling lesson," and, "I don't need a new ball to keep bowling as badly as I do."

The "Choc-List" for getting rid of "Limiting Beliefs," is as follows:

1) Take about 5 - 10 minutes and list as quickly as you can, the thoughts that are holding you back from raising your average. Don't think too deeply, just write. There is plenty of time for contemplation and questioning after the list is done.

2) Take 5 - 10 minutes and list as quickly as you can, all the things you like about yourself and your bowling. Again, don't think too deeply, just write. There will be plenty of time later for getting swelled-headed.

3) Compare the two lists and for each negative point, pick the best positive point that overcomes and out weights the negative one. Get away from negative-speak because your positive self-image will always outweigh the negative.

4) Throw away the "limiting beliefs" list and concentrate on what you like about yourself. Look at it as often as you can to reinforce your positive feelings about yourself. Add to this positive list on a daily basis. Read it, revise it, review it. Most important - Take Action! Thinking will not accomplish what action can.

If any of you would like a copy of Mr. Franzen's book, I will send you a PDF copy of it at no cost. Just send me your email address and it will be on the way to you.

A Hui Hou! (See You Later!).
