The Formula

There are two categories of students who approach me for coaching sessions, "resistors" and "persistors." (-misspelling intentional-). We are not in this world to judge anyone's motivations or intentions; but, everyone has to be their own guide as to how far they will go in the sport of bowling.

There are many bowlers who, "can't, won't, or refuse" to do what is necessary to improve their game. Typically, these are the bowlers who question why we should have multiple bowling balls, question why a person would need a spare ball, and question the need for investing their time and money toward advancing their knowledge and/or skills. These are, of course, the "resistors."

The "persistors," on the other hand, "can, will, and accept," all that is necessary to move their game in the positive direction. They become students of the game, the want to learn all about the different oil patterns, they want to learn about the different surfaces, and they want to learn about the different styles of throwing their ball. On more thing that persistors do is they practice - and not only their physical game, but their mental game. Thehttp://www.bellaonline.com/content/article_add.aspy take it to the next level and do the deep breathing exercises, their pre-shot routine, warm-up exercises, and they take notes.

You see, there is no special, written formula for becoming a higher average bowler or a professional bowler. I don't believe there is anyone who can come close to explaining what is necessary to become a "great" bowler. The formula is something you feel; it's in your guts, it's in your mind, and it's in your heart. The positive-thinking and open-minded bowler is the one who makes marked improvements in their game.

So, here's this weeks "Choc-List" for insuring that your game improves:

1) "Resistors" detract from their own game. Their negativity makes then "un-coachable" just stemming from the fact that they are unwilling to learn. Unless they are willing to change their outlook, they will remain at whatever level they are at. Do not be a "resistor."

2) "Persistors" have every chance and opportunity for improvement. Their positivity drives them to continually learn. They set goals for themselves. They don't over think their game. They are honest with themselves. Strive to be a "persistor."

3) "Formula." There is no formula that will make you succeed in the sport of bowling. There is no formula that guarantees you will become a high average bowler. But, there is proof that if you concentrate on your "can-do" attitude, you will succeed in getting better. Quit looking for "The Formula."

4) "Students." Of the game. They study bowling. They study their attitude. They want to know all there is to know about bowling. They will become, and already are, great. Do take your game to the next level.

"The limiting factor in people's minds is not what they are; but, rather, what they are not."
