USI Championship FUTURES Tour
On July 24-26 the USI Championship tournament will be held at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course located at 1 Beaver Meadow Road in Concord, NH, Tournament Director Mike Palmieri announced and welcomed the USI Championship on their web site www.hhhinfo.com/usichampionship/index.asp. He kept his readers up to date with a monthly newsletter titled “A Little Birdie Told Me”. He talked about the last year tournament winner with a course record by Mo Martin with a 67. He remarked that this was awesome to watch. Mike Palmieri also requested all those who would sponsor, volunteer or have question to contact his committee.
Beaver Meadow Golf Course is the oldest golf course in New Hampshire. For over 100 years it has provided the public a safe and well operated facility with great recreational and reasonable costs. Bernard Case is the Golf Course Manager with Ed Deshaies as the PGA Professional.
I found it interesting to read the list of sponsors for this tournament and there was a full page of listings. The Title Sponsor was the USI New England with the Pro-Am Sponsor the Cobb Hill Construction as I was surfing on down the list of Volunteer Sponsors, Leadership Sponsors, I came to Championship Sponsor and was not surprised to find the name of Dave Andrews Foursome as a sponsor. I became acquainted with Dave Andrews when he asked if I would review his book “Pops and Sunshine” on my Golf Editor site. I find the most interesting people on my web site and all because of Golf.
He sent me the book and that is when I became acquainted with the Duramed FUTURES Tour when he wrote a great story involved around this tournament held in Concord, NH This caused me to research this FUTURES Tour and I have now heard from them giving me more information about this tour. I am grateful to Dave as it has opened up a whole new area for me to write about. I plan to post each week whenever this FUTURES Tour plays for the rest of the year. It is giving me a good insight as to how much work and enjoyment the communities must get from having these professional girls spend time in their city and on their golf course.
Mo Martin from Altadena, Calif. won this tournament in 2008 with a score of 204 which was -12 strokes under par. She won by 4 strokes over Gerina Mendeza from Roswell, N.M. I was interested to check out the section of Tool of the Winner where it listed just what clubs she used. I found she uses Callaway for most of her clubs also Titleist Pro V balls plus listed shoes, golf glove, clothes that was a nice to add these items.
The beneficiary of this tournament will be The Havenwood-Heritage Heights Trust Fund as tickets for the tournament may be purchased at the Heritage Heights in Concord. General Admission for each day is $10.00 with a three day pass for $25.00 and children free. Sounds very reasonable to be and you get to watch some of the best Professional Women’s Golfers.
