More to Love

Plus size supermodel Emme will be hosting the Fox reality show More to Love scheduled to appear later this summer. The premise of the show is to follow plus size men and women through the trials and tribulations of dating as they search for true love.

You can expect it to be along the same lines as The Bachelor and The Bachelorette but better because it's curvy people. The first season has a big guy as the center of attention twenty "confident and secure plus-size women".

If you are not familiar with either show; in the past, the minority (the bachelor or the bachelorette) goes on dates with the majority. Every week he/she has to eliminate one of the potential love matches based on their dates until hopefully by the final episode they have found someone they want to spend their lives with. I have taken in a few episodes of the The Bachelor and wasn't really impressed with women throwing themselves at the eligible men. I only watched one episode of The Bachelorette and found the men grovelling for one female not much better.

I had no attention of watching More to Love but since I found out plus size supermodel Emme will be hosting I know it will be a lot more interesting and am making plans to tune in. Emme is not new to television. In the past she hosted Fashion Emergency on Entertainment TV and often appears as a guest on news shows talking about health and fashion. She is the first plus size model to ever land a Revlon cosmetics contract. At forty-six she is still active in modeling, writes about environmental issues for iVillage, speaks about body image issues, and runs an online community in her name.

I'm hoping that having Emme as the host will be enough to keep me interested in More to Love since the format hasn't really done so in the past. I also really hope that it doesn't turn into a campy circus about fat people. Hopefully with someone like Emme at the helm we can expect more.

More to Love premiered July 28 on Fox. Follow along with my weekly episode updates.
