eBook Readers continue to evolve and improve. The two most visible are the Sony and Amazon Kindle. Sony has recently partnered with Google, which gives their customers access to 600,000 more titles. The overall eBook titles now available for the Sony eBook Readers is around 160,000. The latest eBook Reader for Sony is the PRS-700 with a price point of $349.

Amazon has released the new Kindle DX eBook Reader. Kindle DX is larger than the Kindle 2. The larger screen size enables readers to turn pages less. The weight increased by 9 ounces. Price has also increased bringing the selling price point to $489.

With mini-computers making a big splash I am amazed that Sony and Amazon are still pushing the price point you. Not only should the mini-computers give Sony and Amazon pause, the consistent inclusion of newer companies with lower price points should. The newest addition is the Cool-er eBook Reader.

Interead’s CEO and founder Neil Jones has launched a new lightweight ebook Reader called the Cool-er. The Cool-er sharply undercuts the price points of Amazon and Sony with a price tag of $199 (after the $50 rebate).

The new iPOD designed Cool-er eBook Reader comes in eight colors ~ Ruby Red, blue sky, cool pink, hot pink, silver shine, vivid violet, racing green and blackjack. Weighing 50% less than the competition makes the Cool-er very comfortable to read. A real benefit of the Cool-er is its compatibility with both Mac and Windows PC. The formats the Cool-er reads include JPEG, PDF, EPUB, TXT, MP3 and 8 languages. There are currently more than 750,000 eBook titles available for download at coolerbooks.com.

I have not personally reviewed the Cool-er eBook Reader but from what I have read and seen this appears very powerful. Once I receive my reader to review I will write a more comprehensive version.
