Trigonometry - Calculus - DVD Review
The fees for Trigonometry and Calculus private tutors are generally on the high end. In order to decrease the need for a tutor and become more of an independent learner, try watching DVDs. The Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus Tutor consist of a 2 DVD set providing five hours of tutoring.
What Topics are Covered?
Disc 1
Complex Numbers (Imaginary Numbers)
Exponential Functions
Logarithmic Functions
Solving Exponential and Logarithmic Equations
Angles
Disc 2
Finding Trig Functions Using Triangles
Finding Trig Functions Using the Unit Circle
Graphing Trig Functions
Trig Identities
What I Like…
*It is obvious the instructor knows his subject and has the ability to explain in simple terms.
*Good pace; not too fast
* First, students will learn the skill. Then, they learn why the skill is important and how to apply the skill within math problems.
*He gets straight to the point and covers what he thinks is most important for students to succeed in trigonometry and calculus.
*Presenter relates new material to student’s prior knowledge to help them make a connection.
To Be Desired:
*Well, if you desire animation, lots of color, music, etc,; then, keep looking. There are no bells and whistles, but you will learn. I am okay with his approach, but others may desire more than a dry erase board.
Comments:
Algebra knowledge required.
If you are motivated to learn and focused, or in a hurry to get an understanding of a topic, this DVD will serve you well. Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus Tutor provides you with good solid teaching. However, if you have the mind set of “math is boring”, shame on you. Nonetheless, you would probably want to consider Standard Deviants DVDs. There is a link to my review below. Personally, I’m using this five hour tutoring course to refresh my Trig and Calculus skills. Other teachers could do the same.
