He listened to his life as it presented him with opportunities to learn and grow and he has listened to those around him who have also questioned the exchange of family for success.
Early in the book he tells the story of a couple of defining moments in his life. One such moment was when he read the story of Sam Walton, the creator of Wal-Mart, who on his death bed said the words: “I blew it,” Walton realized that while becoming successful, he missed spending time with the important people in his life. In that moment Warnke, made a decision to “never let the tower of success cast a shadow over the most important thing in his life.”
As the Family First Entrepreneur, Warnke has started a movement, a type of global conversation that directly speaks to the “work until you burn out” model that we are very familiar with. He brings in a fresh perspective that encourages entrepreneurs to create life-giving priorities that include putting family first, re-structuring our financial lives and creating lives that give us ONO, Options Not Obligations.
He says in the introduction, “This is not just a book about making money. It will help you become financially successful, but it does not stop there. The goal is to help you succeed in all areas in your life. When you combine financial and personal success, you will be in a better position to fulfill your intended purpose here on earth.”
