Cafe Press is an interesting website which was founded in 1999. Their website says that they are “the leader in user-generated commerce”. What this means is that individuals from all over the world, create designs and Cafe Press puts them on t-shirts, mouse pads, coffee mugs and an assortment of other products. The site boasts a user community of over 6.5 million people and over 150 million different products. All products are printed “on demand” so there are no inventory or set up fees. Users set their own prices.

You can find designs about political causes, your favorite breed of dog, humorous catchphrases and yes, even miscarriage. My recent search for miscarriage related items pulled up 290 different designs on 5,580 products. Since new members are entering the community and new designs are being created all the time, that number is likely to grow.

Granted, some women just want to get over their miscarriage and move on. They don't want to talk about it or think about it. A teddy bear with “Always Remember” on his t-shirt or a poster with a baby-holding angel isn't going to work for them. However, for many women, myself included, acknowledging their miscarriage or miscarriages is one of the best ways of surviving the experience. A friend of mine who has had multiple miscarriages says “Look, I want to feel better but I'm never going to “get over” my miscarriages. I know that someday, I 'll feel better and it won't hurt so much but I'm never going to forget those babies I lost and I don't want to.”

Cafe Press has a variety of miscarriage designs ranging from simple text to photos to artistic designs. If a t-shirt or a bumper sticker is too “out there” for you, there are also refrigerator magnets, postcards and journals. If you have an artistic streak, you may even want to try your hand a designing a product of your own. While the listings are all public, you'll find many products on Cafe Press which are clearly intended for a very specific market like a specific family or a certain school. You could design something specifically for friends and family. Additionally, Cafe Press will make audio CDs and publish books if you find you want to share your experience with miscarriage (or someone else's) in that way.

Cafe Press certainly doesn't exclusively carry miscarriage designs. You'll find a wide variety of other topics from silly to sincere. However, if you're in the market for a way to memorialize or acknowledge your loss, Cafe Press might be a good place to check out.
