Bead Space
Have you seen Bead-Space.com? It's a brand new social networking site like Myspace or Ravelry for beaders.
Setting up an account is quick and free, and then you can take advantage off all the features. They have blogs, forums, photo albums, message boards, and profile pages, and it's all very easy to use. You don't need to know html to upload pictures or change your profile.
When you go to the home page, you get an instant look at the most recent activity on the site, videos added, new pictures uploaded to everyone's photo albums, and the most recent forum activity. There's a shoutbox on the home page you can say hi to everyone on, or you can ask a question like "How do I change my background on my profile?"
You can message people or leave comments on their photos or on their profiles. You can also browse beaders by location and find beaders in your area you can possibly meet with in person.
This is my profile on Bead-Space. It's not modified except for colors and background.
It's really easy to navigate too, which is always a plus with any site.
When you create your profile, some of the questions in it are bead related, like what do you create, and what's your favorite bead store. Clicking through the tabs to customize your profile with your own background and your own colors is easy. You click first on my account, then setting, then in that menu, design your profile, and you can upload a background image and pick your colors. They host the background image for you.
There's a bead store directory that you can check out if you're going on vacation soon so you can plan out going to bead stores. I know I'm not the only person who checks the bead stores out almost first thing when I go on vacation.
There are free auctions for beaders to buy or sell things on, and you can create groups or join groups for things you are interested in.
There's also a lot of things just for fun on that site, like Bead Battle where you choose your favorite of 2 projects, or quizzes.
I really like Bead-Space.com, looking forward to seeing you there!
