Lucinda appeared in Oakdale over twenty years ago. She was first introduced as Mary Ellen Walters.

Lucinda had a brief marriage to Jacobo Esteban, Sierra’s father. After that marriage ended, Sierra was taken from Lucinda. They later reunited, but their relationship has always been rocky.

Lucinda is a savvy business woman, making enemies very early in Oakdale. Shortly after her arrival, Lucinda married Martin Guest. Lucinda and Martin adopted a daughter, Lily. Lucinda, being shrewd and conniving, adopted Lily under false pretenses. Martin was unaware of this, and later took his own life.


Lucinda married three times after Martin. Her second husband was James Walsh, John Dixon and then James Stenbeck. John Dixon, who had the longest marriage with Lucinda, was a man who was the exact opposite of Lucinda. John was a very easygoing and honest man who treated Lucinda with respect. Though their marriage had its moments, Lucinda seemed to be the happiest with John. Due to their differences, John later divorced Lucinda.

Lucinda has a long-standing feud with the incomparable, Craig Montgomery. Craig recently acquired Worldwide Industries, and renamed the company Montgomery Enterprises. Craig acquired the company at the hand of Lucinda’s daughter, Lily. Lily gave Craig control of the company in a moment of weakness. Lucinda, being as resilient as ever, gained control and took her company back.


Lucinda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. Lucinda tried to keep the matter a secret, with only Meg Snyder aware of her condition. Meg assisted in Lucinda’s treatment and suggest she leave town to get the best treatment money could buy. Lucinda left Oakdale for Mexico. Lucinda was grateful for the seclusion and time away. After a few months in Mexico, Lucinda later returned to Oakdale, and underwent additional treatment. Lucinda’s cancer is currently in remission.

Present day, Lucinda is a much calmer person. She is not the controlling mother she used to be. Lucinda does not interfere with Lily’s life, and until recently, has made an effort to get along with Lily’s husband, Holden. In the coming future, Lucinda will get a surprise: James Stenbeck is rolling into town once again. Even thought the two were married, I am sure there will be agendas, death threats, blackmail and harsh words to come.
