Alight

This online plus size clothing store is a brand carrier of such popular designers as Monif C, Svoboda, Sydney's Closet, as well as their own "Alight" line. Their main office is located in Chicago, Illinois. Their first walk-in store opened in Plainview, New York.

Selection: Alight offers clothing from over 60 designers in tops, bottoms, dresses, intimates, swimwear, outerwear, active wear and accessories.

Sizing: Alight carries plus size clothing in sizes 12 - 34.

Styling: Alight seems to offer quite a variance of styles from many age groups. There's trendy, sexy, casual, functional, business, and every day.

Pricing: The prices are average to pricey depending on product and they have a good sale section for the bargain hunter.

Availability: Alight ships worldwide. Costs depend on purchase amount but starts at an affordable $8.49 - $12.99 for basic shipping in the US. Canadian orders cost $17.95 for the first item plus $1.50 for each additional item. Elsewhere begins at $30.

Overall Impression: Their website has a convenient shopping layout allowing fashionistas to browse via category, brand, boutique or size. I'm not sure how they determine their "bestsellers" items but I just don't believe the fifteen items they have displayed are them.

I do like that they offer a higher size range than average. And when I actually did a search for sizes in the higher range there were more than typical one or two items results. Because it carries brands from other shops it makes it easier to do one stop shopping if they happen to carry the items you like from your favourite stores. They have a nice selection of choices although not all categories, like swimwear and intimates, are what I would call fully stocked. Shipping information was easy to find and understand.

I think because they don't really focus on a particular style that they are able to appeal to a wider audience of shoppers. Myself I like to shop at the originating store i.e. I'd get a dress from Monif C's shop versus somewhere else, unless it was at an incredibly good price. Like anywhere/anyone, there were a number of items I liked and a number I hated; but I didn't fall in love with anything new. One of the advantages though could be the cost for shipping which plays a role in the shopping experience. This store is definitely worth checking out.
