Quotes from the Saints
Saints are one of God’s gifts to us. They experienced many of the same joys and sorrows; happiness and heartaches that we too have experienced, or will in our lifetime. As Christians, we can look up to them and their example in our own walk with Christ.
Here are some of my favorite quotes from a few of the saints.
Saint Augustine
"Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe."
"Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you."
"He who created us without our help will not save us without our consent."
"If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself."
"Nothing whatever pertaining to godliness and real holiness can be accomplished without grace."
"Christ is not valued at all unless He is valued above all."
Saint Francis of Assisi
"Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words."
"Lord, grant that I might not so much seek to be loved as to love."
"While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart."
"Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."
Saint Jerome
