Jill Shalvis Is Back
This time out, I have the last book in Jill Shalvis's 'Sky High Air' series, Superb and Sexy (Brava). This time out, bad boy Brody has had enough of his best employee dodging him and goes to get her. Maddie doesn't intend to go back, no matter how irresistible she finds Brody, not now that her twin Leena is here, bringing trouble with her. Leena and Maddie are very different--Maddie's the strong, confident, sexy one; Leena's the meek, do-as-she's-told one--but Maddie is determined now to get her sister away from their past and only horrid family member, permanently. She made a promise years ago, and now she finally gets to fulfill it. Brody won't let Maddie head into danger alone, however, even though all he'll admit to is a smoking hot attraction to her, an attraction which they get to indulge early and often. Even the heretofore unseen and mousy Leena gets a little love interest going on during this one. We knew from previous books that Brody and Maddie had to wind up together, but I have to say, this one isn't my favorite of the series. Sure, there's lots of steam generated by their pairing, pun intended, but I liked the previous two books better, and still liked the first one best. I think it's the bad guys in this one who put me off the story somewhat. Maddie is still kick-ass and smart-mouthed, and Brody is still broody, Alpha, and sexy, but I didn't love this book. I wanted to like it at least as much as the previous one, but something here just didn't do it for me, sadly. Oh well. Maybe next time? This one has earned only three of Cupid's five arrows.
Until next time, happy reading!
