Spas & Halloween

Guest Author - Debbi Karpowicz Kickham

With Halloween right around the corner you may be wondering just what kind of treat would be appropriate for the more mature ghouls and goblins on your list. Or maybe this year you are in charge of the office or club Halloween Party. Well, why not give a Spa Party?

Many Spas offer group discounts, gift certificates and other options that would work great for Halloween treats instead of the usual candy that everyone will sit around and talk about going to their waists in the weeks to come.

Well, you may be thinking what if a trip to the Spa is a bit beyond the budget that I have this year or maybe you have already designated a place to have the party. You could always give store bought spa products that are made to be used at home or if you really want to liven the party up and get in the gooey spirit of Halloween, make some products during the party that the guests can try out on each other or take home to enjoy!

Here is a great spa recipe that your guests can easily make.

1/2 cup baking soda

2 tbs. borax

2 tbs. sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp. ground ginger

1/4 tsp. ground cloves

Mix together all the ingredients until well blended. To use add 2 tbs. of the bath mix to a warm tub of water. Store the mixture in a clean, dry container.

Other ideas include making a lavender massage oil by soaking lavender flowers in warm almond oil and adding 3 or 4 drops essential oils to the mixture or for that matter any scent that they like. Using the essential oils will make the mixture useable faster than if they incorporate fresh leaves or flowers. Warming the oil either by placing the bottle in hot water or rubbing in their hands will make the massage much more pleasant.

A final idea is to place a few drops of the essential oil on a warm towel and breath deeply into it. This is a really wonderful way to go to sleep and get the maximum effect from inhaling the scent you choose.

Remember, have a safe and happy Halloween.
