A New Lily Snyder
This is stunning news. When I watched As the World Turns yesterday, I saw the scene where Lily discussed with Lucinda how she needed to find herself. Lucinda encouraged her to visit Iva, Lily’s biological mother. Lily wanted to take some time away from her family and see why she is having issues with letting go of the past. When she informed Holden that she was leaving for a while, he was reluctant to see her go. Yet, he knew that she needed this time to search her heart and discover why she keeps repeating the same patterns of deceitfulness and betrayal.
That scene was Martha Byrne’s last scene. Byrne has portrayed Lily for the last twenty-five years, give or take a year or two. Martha and Lily basically grew up on the show. Noelle Beck will portray the role of Lily starting May 8. With the arrival of a new Lily, I imagine that her character will go in a different direction. There have been a few clues, and I see a twisted future for Lily Snyder.
Since Lily’s departure, it’s been eluded that Carly will play an integral role in helping Holden cope with the changes. Since Jack and Carly are not a possibility, (for now) this is the perfect opportunity for Holden and Carly to become more than good friends. The idea of Carly and Holden as a couple is hard to picture, because they have always been good friends but never anything more. If Carly and Holden become a couple then Holden and Jack’s relationship will be strained once again. Remember Julia, JJ’s natural mother? Jack was involved with Julia for some time. Then, he regained his memory and left Julia for Carly. Holden and Lily were having trouble at the time, and Julia and Holden became close. There was tension between Jack and Holden, but it will be nothing compared to the tension that will be felt if Holden and Carly become closer. There will also be strain between Carly and Lily. We all know that once Carly focuses her energy on someone, she goes after them with much aggression and persistence.
