What's New at SPJ

Guest Author - Susan Dorling

Thanks to everyone who has been visiting SPJ, my jewelry website launched last Halloween and I hope you are enjoying it. SPJ, an acronym for Susan's Passion for Jewelry, has been created to share information about jewelry and gemstones as well as to support and promote the independent artisan community.

If you love jewelry as much as I do, I know you'll enjoy a browse through SPJ. SPJ is first and foremost a Designers Showcase featuring the work of talented jewelry designers in beautiful exclusive galleries. We have a long list of fabulous designers coming into the Showcase this summer and presently feature the following:

  • AriDesigns Jewelry - Arriel Goodwin

  • Art You Can Wear - Diana Kirkpatrick

  • Beryl Blush Blonde - Dionne McGraw

  • Byrd Designs

  • Caramy Day Designs

  • Designing Diva - Randi-sue Deckard

  • Eclectic Melange - Shirley Warner

  • Elaine Haydon Jewelry - Elaine Haydon

  • Kingfisher Designs - Louise and Don Coulson

  • Kuukivi - Sheela Rayala

  • Quarry Jewelry - Jennifer Kennedy

  • Rapt Elegance - Sue Lindsey

  • StarStrings - Molly Magdalain

  • Stunning Details - Rhonda Reagan

  • We now have five experts writing columns at SPJ, and new experts will be joining us throughout the summer. Presently we feature the following monthly columns in our Ask the Experts feature:

  • Antique, Vintage, and Estate Jewelry by Fay Cullen

  • Gemology & Colored Gemstones by Barbara W. Smigel, PhD. Graduate Gemologist, GIA

  • Unique Handmade Fine Art Jewelry by Laurie Stetzler

  • Pearls by Amy Hourigan

  • Tapestry Needleweaving by Diana Kirkpatrick

  • Along with our growing Jewelry & Gemstone Dictionary, there are numerous interesting and helpful features at the site including a brand new Top 100 Handrafted Jewelry Websites which invites your listing if you are a jewelry designer, plus the International Jewelry Designer & Artisan Directory which now has the capability for you to add your own listing.

Many new features are coming to SPJ this summer including our Designers Corner with a very helpful and inspiring pre-launch article by veteran designer, Louise Coulson of Kingfisher Designs.

So whether you are a jewelry lover who admires beautiful handcrafted jewelry, a jewelry designer/artisan looking for a great new avenue to showcase your work (there are a variety of free advertising opportunities available), or a jewelry shopper looking for a wonderful gift of jewelry for yourself or that special someone (there's more than 225 gorgeous pieces of jewelry on display), check out SPJ.

Inquiries, comments, and suggestions are invited. Simply send an email to info@susanspassionforjewelry.com or press the Contact button on this page. Thanks for your feedback!
