Young Cam Jansen and the Spotted Cat Mystery #12 is not the best by David A. Adler. The children adventure book seems as written to meet the publisher’s deadline. Adler places more depth into previous Young Cam mystery books. Mrs. Wayne, the assistant principal, treats Young Cam Jansen as a circus act. Throughout David A. Adler's book, she asks Young Cam to recall this and that. An adult should know not to treat a child like that. Young Cam Jansen and the Missing Cookie is a better book.
Young Cam Jansen and the Spotted Cat Mystery #12 is an early reader chapter book for children between five and eight-years-old. Read the book aloud to the younger kids. Older children can read it on their own. The beginning chapter book has thirty-one pages divided into five chapters. The sentences are short and the dialogue is age appropriate.
