Original Specialty Drink Recipes with Cool Brew
Cool Brew, made by the New Orleans Coffee Company, is a liquid coffee concentrate made by the cold-brewing process. When I first tried Cool Brew, I thought it would be a bartender’s dream because it tastes great and is so easy to use. It also comes in delicious flavors so that really got my imagination flowing.
A few days ago, I decided to put that imagination to the test in creating a few non-alcoholic fun drinks with my favorite Cool Brew flavors.
Before making the drinks I made up a batch of fresh whipped cream. You can use ready-made whipped toppings, but I highly recommend you try it with this easy recipe at least once. Using all quality ingredients is key in making a good recipe great. Also, please note you can adjust the fat and sugar in these recipes by using low or non-fat products and sugar substitute if you like. You will have to experiment with what works.
Freshly Whipped Cream
1 cup of heavy cream
¼ cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Pour all ingredients into a glass bowl. Use a wire whisk or electric mixer to whip into consistency of whipped cream (enough to form soft peaks—Warning: Over mixing can turn your cream into butter)
Double Mocha Cream
2 tbsp. Hershey’s Natural Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (sometimes found in the baking section)
Hershey semi-sweet Mini Chips
1 ounce Cool Brew Mocha Flavor
¾ cup of milk
2 tbsp. sugar
Mix together sugar and cocoa powder in a large mug
In a separate cup or bowl mix milk and Cool Brew Mocha Flavor
Heat in microwave for 1½ minutes until hot.
Gradually add hot coffee/milk to sugar/cocoa mixture stirring well.
Top with a large dollop of whipped cream
Sprinkle with Hershey semi-sweet Mini Chips
Crunchy Toasted Almond
1 oz Cool Brew Toasted Almond Flavor
6 ounces of water
1 tbsp. (or to taste) brown sugar
Unsalted, unflavored almonds crushed
Microwave water and Cool Brew Toasted Almond Flavor in mug or cup for 1 ½ minutes or until hot
Add Brown Sugar
Top w/large dollop of whipped cream
Sprinkle with crushed almonds
My daughter and her husband were willing participants in the taste test of both drinks as was I. We gave both drinks an enthusiastic thumbs up. The only drawback here is that after sampling all of that coffee late in the evening we were up until 3 a.m., but all agreed that it was well worth it.
