Before I begin, I want to touch on two things:

Number 1:
I don’t believe that Crystal Chappell (Olivia) is leaving Guiding Light. I have scoured many soap websites and have not found anything validating Olivia’s departure.

Number 2:
I realize that Gus and Natalia are married, and they have vowed their love for each other.

With all of that said, I do think Olivia has a chance at Gus simply because Gus doesn’t seem content with Natalia.

Olivia has been ill for quite some time, and now she learns that she may be dying. She has relied on Gus and her two daughters to get her through this ordeal. And Gus has been there every step of the way. Olivia’s intentions weren’t to fall in love. Instead, by seducing Gus, her intentions were to help Alan win Natalia. If Olivia was successful, Alan promised to help keep Olivia and Emma safe from Phillip Spaulding. While trying to seduce Gus, Olivia realized how compassionate and caring he is. She tried to fight it, but she has fallen head over heels for Gus. She has also managed to make Natalia aware that even though she is dying, she still has some fight left in her.

Natalia is so patient. She has waited 17 years for Gus, and she came to Springfield just to find him. She would have left town if Harley did not use her crackerjack detective skills to figure out that Rafael is Gus’s son. Because of Harley’s selflessness, Gus’s feelings for Natalia resurfaced, leading to Harley and Gus’s divorce. Natalia and Gus do have a strong connection because of their past and their son. But one thing does bother me: Gus proposed to Natalia almost instantly. It makes you wonder if he reacted in that manner simply to allow Rafe to experience the family that he never had.

I do believe Gus cares deeply for Natalia. But she is no match for Olivia. When Gus was married to Harley, Natalia just waited around until Gus realized his feelings for her and acted on them. Natalia can’t afford to sit around when Olivia is involved. Recognizing the fact that Olivia is on a mission, Natalia locked Olivia in the closet so she wouldn’t interrupt the wedding ceremony.

This is what I imagine happening:

Olivia will be on death’s door, saying goodbye to Gus and professing her love towards him. Suddenly, a heart will be available. Gus will realize he can’t bear the thought of losing her, and his feelings are deeper than he could ever imagine. What do you see happening?
