When I was reading Kris Carr's amazing Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips book I came across the link for Spirited Sisters, a company in Massachusetts that manufactures "the Original Healing Threads" and I thought for kicks I'll just check to see if they have plus sizes, half expecting them not to. Much to my surprise they do and I thought some of you may want to know about this amazing product.
We have all experienced the trials and tribulations of having to wear a hospital gown at some point in our lives either in the hospital or doctor's office. They are uncomfortable, incredibly awkward, usually aren't made for plus size bodies (although the odd doctor realizes his patients come in more than one size fits all) and have a gaping hole up the back. Now there are a few places online where you can get similarly designed gowns for plus size figures but Spirited Sisters designs hospital gowns with function and fashion in mind. This also carries a heftier price tag ranging from $39.95 - $89.95 depending on style chosen. But if you are spending a lot of time in hospital gowns due to cancer treatments, dialysis, doctors exams etc. or just want something that makes it easier to breast feed then you have to check out these pretty things.
They come in 4 styles: classic, wrap, elegant and grace (my favorite is the elegant style - shown). The special features of the gowns include a front access panel to the chest area, a split opening to the back, roll up sleeves, interior pockets for pumps, monitors or change, exterior pockets and Stain Smart fabric that is made from a soft, cosy and wrinkle resistant polyester micro-fiber that is machine washable. There are seven colors to choose from but not all styles and size come in all colors. Size wise they are made up to a 3x which translated to a size 32 by their standards. They also carry two kinds of pants, one pair are break-aways, and are made of the same material as the gowns.
There's a video collection on the website instructing in the wear of the gowns as well as providing a face to the owner. This venture was started by Peg Feodoroff and her two sisters Patty and Claire all of whom have had their lives touched by cancer in some way. The name Spirited Sisters represents them and is a bit of a dedication to Claire who has passed away.
