Fried Red Cabbage with Apples
Fried Red Cabbage with Apples- 2 lbs. red cabbage
- 1 medium onion - chopped
- 1-1/2 T. vegetable oil
- 2 medium apples - chopped
- 1 tsp. all purpose seasoning
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 T. flour
- salt & pepper to taste
Preparation - Shred the cabbage. In a large skillet, saute the chopped onion in the oil. Add the shredded cabbage and saute until the cabbage is wilted and tender. Add the chopped apple plus 1 to 2 tablespoons water and simmer 5 minutes over low heat, stirring frequently. Mix the all-purpose seasoning, cinnamon, sugar, flour, salt and pepper together. Stir into the cabbage mixture and cook over low heat until the sauce is slightly thickened.
