Dr. Seuss - How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Dr. Seuss - How the Grinch Stole Christmas
How the Grinch Stole Christmas is by Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss creates the fictional town of Who-ville. He uses the kids' book to teach the true meaning of Christmas. His whimsical characters and rhyming verse enhance the infant(baby), toddler, preschool and elementary kids, tween and teen Christmas story.

Every Christmas the citizens of Who-ville exchange presents, eat a feast and sing Christmas carols. This happens Christmas after Christmas to the joy of the townspeople. There is one person who doesn’t feel the joy. He is the Grinch. The Grinch lives in a cave on Mt. Crumpit. The dog, Max, is his only friend.

Mean Grinch does not like Christmas. Evil Grinch wants to destroy Christmas. He slips into Who-ville and steals everything. Aha! Mr. Grinch is very wrong about the meaning of Christmas. A lack of material things does not diminish the beauty and meaning of the season. The adults and kids of Who-ville gather in the town square and sing their Christmas carols. Everyone is filled with Christmas joy and sing songs to the Heavens.

Grinch and children learn Christmas is not about material processions, but the spirit of the Holiday season, the birth of Christ. No matter what one has, it is easy to celebrate His birth. The truth causes love to grow in the Grinch’s heart. He returns everything to the citizens of Who-ville and accepts their invitation to stay.

Dr. Seuss wants children to know the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is not the number of gifts from Santa Claus. It is not the amount of food on the dining room table. It is the friendship and love for all. Share How the Grinch Stole Christmas with children. Discuss the story’s message. It has been a favorite Christmas book since Dr. Seuss wrote it in 1957. Infants, toddlers and early elementary children love the rhyming verse and the illustrated characters. Children can independently read the picture book at the age of seven.
