When Reva was first introduced as a teenager on Guiding Light, Reva's mother, Sarah, worked as the housekeeper for the Lewis family. Reva dated Billy Lewis for a while but then broke up with him. She later married his father, H.B. While taking care of H.B.'s other son, Josh, Reva fell in love with him. They both have had many marriages and affairs before realizing that they were truly meant to be together.


Reva left Guiding Light for about five years between the years of 1990-1995. The soap left the storyline open for Kim Zimmer to eventually return in 1995. Her character has been quite busy ever since.

The storyline of Reva battling breast cancer has generated great response form the audience. There was an episode which revealed that Reva missed her annual mammogram. The next year, when she visited her doctor, a lump was detected in her breast. Reva eventually started losing her hair and began wearing a wig. She tried all the available cancer treatments but eventually ended up on her deathbed. I find it amazing that Guiding Light is stressing the importance of having mammograms every year.

Currently, Reva's true love, Josh, is planning to marry Reva's Sister Cassie. He fell in love with Cassie while Reva was battling breast cancer. Reva, being the true diva she is, tried to stop the wedding numerous times. For example, minutes before her Cassie's wedding, Reva told her, "This is wrong and you should not marry Josh." Reva also went so far as to dropping her champagne glass in the middle of the wedding ceremony.

Throughout the history of the character, Guiding Light has done a great job of keeping Reva's character relevant so the audience can easily relate with her. Reva is mixture of powerful, crazy, vulnerable and passionate all rolled into one character. She loves her children but has admittedly made mistakes during their upbringing. She's powerful enough to recognize that. She is versatile enough to be a bartender as well as an executive at Lewis Oil Construction. She is a breast cancer survivor. She has had her heart broken a number of times and has made it through it all. Reva has had to make some tough decisions like keeping Jonathan and Sarah's status a secret. It's exciting to see what the future holds for this character. Will Reva end up with Josh? Will Reva and Jeffrey become closer? I will keep you updated on her future endeavors.
