Amelia Bedelia is a maid for the Rogers’ family. She is kind-hearted and loves life. But she has one problem, she takes everything literally. This leads to some amusing situations. When she is told to scale and ice freshly caught fish, she weighs the fish on a scale. Amelia Bedelia ices the fish with cake icing. Children love her screwball adventures.
Amelia often confuses idioms and homonyms. The resulting mix-ups causes the laughter. As the children are laughing at Amelia Bedelia, they are reading.
