Everyday, a countless number of people turn to the Internet as a way to make a little extra money. The challenge is getting up to speed to make your efforts work for you in a reasonable amount of time.

One way to begin to generate a little income online is with a Squidoo lens. You can offer a specialty product such as natural dog treats, designer handbags or spa gift basket. The key to making your Squidoo lens is to offer something that other people are excited about buying. I started a spa gift basketlens on Squidoo. I love the baskets that Spa Finder offers, so I figured if I love them so will others. After browsing the Spa Finder site I selected a few nice baskets to list on my new Squidoo lens. This was easy to do since I belong to a network called Link Share that allows me to easily create an affiliate partnership. If you are not a member of Link Share, Squidoo offer a very extensive selection of partners offering products that you can feature on your lens.

Once you have found your product, build your lens, which will take about 10 minutes. Make it more interesting by offer a guestbook module and or a poll. This will get your customers to interact with you while at your lens (thanks Mr. Lewis Smile for this tip). Write a little review on the product or suggest different ways to use your product.

If you offer children’s books you can give tips on how to build a collectible children’s book library. Or if you offer kitchen items do a “hot off the press” item featuring the latest kitchen gadgets.

Be creative with your lens. Make it sparkle and shine and mostly make it useful and interesting. In time, your visitor will look forward to the wonderful items that you have to offer. Make sure to send out a notice to all of your friends and family and tell them that they can find great items at your Squidoo Lens. And, if they like your lens maybe they will make one of their own, which will also give you a few extra bucks for your pocket when they make bucks!
