When we see others are successful in any area it gives us hope that is possible for us to do the same. Likewise, Minorities in Mathematics will share resources about successful African Americans, women and Hispanic mathematicians and sites that show how these advances led into inventions. Enjoy, I guarantee you’ll learn something new today, and that’s always a good thing.

Mathematicians of the African American Diaspora - a comprehensive site covering Black Mathematicians developed by Dr. Scott Williams, a professor of Mathematics at the State University of New York (SUNY)at Buffalo. Expect to find profiles of 500 Black Mathematicians.
Modern History of Blacks in Mathematics Starts with Benjamin Banneker and ending with a female, Kate Okikiolu, the first Black to be awarded the Sloan Research Fellowship.

Women Mathematicians - Biographical listing of women mathematicians; this project is done by Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia. The biographies are categorized alphabetically, chronologically, and by birthplace. Also, it is possible to do an online search of the site.
The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education - shares information about today’s mathematicians and their publications in the article, The Most Highly Cited Black Mathematicians.
Mathematical Association of America - has several pages dedicated to SUMMA (Strengthening Underrepresented Minority Mathematics Achievement) This program includes achievements of minorities in science and engineering. The Archival Record shares pictures and biographies of those minorities that have earned Ph.D.s in mathematics and mathematical education.
Latino/Hispanics Mathematicians - Highlights the achievements of Latino/Hispanics Mathematicians; created by Tamil Maldonado-Vega, former graduate student at Arizona State University
The Algebra Project Inc - a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the mathematics achievement of historically underrepresented students and communities.
Black Facts – online resource for Black History information; do a onsite search using the keyword “mathematicians” and enjoy reading the interesting results
Something Extra – Since math and science are related to inventions, I’ve included the following site that shares the inventions of African Americans.
Black Inventors – recognizes the inventions and innovations of African Americans. Many of the items you use on a daily basis were invented by Blacks. Learn which ones they are by visiting this site. The inventors are listed alphabetically, as well as, by groups such as female, transportation, electrical, health / safety, and many more.
