It’s that time of year again – May Sweeps (April 24 – May 21). This is when all the television shows try to lure in new viewers by using guest stars, ensemble storylines and usually a big event. Sweeps occur every February, May, July and November and the networks focus on improving the ratings since many of their advertising revenues are based on these numbers.

The storylines during sweeps, in my opinion, have been a bit lackluster, especially on General Hospital and All My Children. One Life to Live, however, has been amping up the energy with an appearance by Snoop Dogg and Rex and Adriana’s wedding.

Here are a few highlights of what’s happened so far this sweeps, but you have a few days left to catch some of the action.

All My Children:

Kendall burns down the house where she and Aiden made love, hoping to put it in the past. Zach seems to forgive Kendall for her past mistakes, but has a harder time forgiving Aiden.

Zach sends Aiden on a mission to Darfur – to save Jake Martin, Tad’s brother. They are both presumed dead, but manage to escape and Jake is reunited with his family.

Cassandra, Angie’s daughter with Jacob, returns to town. Rob is very interested in her, especially since he thinks the missing diamond is in her elephant stuffed animal.

Erica struggles in prison, especially when she’s put in solitary confinement.

Dixie’s ghost appears to Adam in hopes he will reunite Tad with his daughter, Kate. Meanwhile, Julia plans on accepting a job offer that would move her and Kathy (Kate) to Australia.


General Hospital:

Johnny attempts to kill Sonny, but the bullet bounces off his shoulder holster. Lulu gets a glimpse of Johnny’s dark side and tries to stay away from him.

Anna returns and discovers she’s about to be a grandmother. Much to Robin’s dismay, she tries to recapture her youth and literally hangs with Luke. Patrick gets himself in trouble when he tells Coleman how hot Anna is.

Nicholas gets his last glimpse of Emily as he undergoes the surgery to remove the brain tumor.

Kate pays off Ian to leave town, but before he can, Jason ends up shooting and killing him.

Carly brings a comatose Michael home from the hospital and struggles with the decision to send him to a permanent care facility.

One Life to Live:

Cole and Starr run away, but Todd, Blair, and John are hot on their heels.

Natalie learns the truth that Jared isn’t a Buchanan. She admits she loves him and they make love for the first time.

Antonio fakes his hostility towards John and Talia in order to get closer to Ramsey.

Adriana brings Gigi’s ex-boyfriend, Brody, to Llanview in hopes they’ll rekindle their romance. The attraction between Rex and Gigi seems to be growing,right before Rex is supposed to walk down the aisle.
