Drive More Traffic to Your Website with a Squidoo Lens

Squidoo is a place where you, the expert in your field can share what you know with the world. It’s a place to increase your web presence, making it easier for your customers to find you.

In my first article I defined what Squidoo is, if you missed that I’ll sum it up for you here. It is a collection of “lenses” or web pages filled with your content. You can write about your business, your life, your hobbies even your pets. Your lens will be filed in the appropriate category on Squidoo and visitors will find you when they search for your specialty. By using good keywords, your lens will be found when others search on Google, yahoo or any other search engines.

You can further increase your visibility by having multiple lenses of different products that you offer or on your various interests. For example I have a lens that promotes my mosaic collage artwork. I also have a lens that promotes my passion for changing the world called Whats Your Cow, and my love and passion for retreats, The Art of Rest. I can easily update the information on each lens and I can link them all together. If someone visits my artist page at Jordan Mercedes on Squidoo they will have the option to easily connect to the other pages. They will also be able to connect to my official artist website or other sites on the web where my work is available. You can create your own network within the Squidoo format, then cross promote the sites along with your off site business.

To make your lens even more appealing to your guests you can easily recommend books or other items relating to your business. When a visitor clicks on and purchases one of the items you recommend, you get a portion of that sale. You can also link to other sites such as eBay and Orbitz.

An additional benefit of having a Squidoo lens is it will give you a chance to help various non-profit organizations. You can select to have any money made from your lens donated to charity. There’s a large list for you to choose from.

On your business website invite your visitors to support your charity by clicking on the link to your Squidoo site. It’s a good idea not to duplicate your main website with a Squidoo site. Use you Squidoo site to give more information, share tips about your industry, and give resources. Make the two compatible. This will keep it interesting for your guests, and make it easy to move from one to the other.
