Member-Guest Event
On Wednesday May 16 our Mill Creek Ladies Golf Association of Salado, Texas held their Member/Guest with 11 teams. The teams were made up of a member and three guest or two members and two guests for a total of 44 players. We were encouraged to have practice rounds with our guests and many took advantage of this offer. My two guests were from Fort Worth as one was my daughter-in-law Jackie Meinen and her friend Shirley Schaeffer. The extra member was Charlene Jarnagan a new to our club. She agreed to fill for in for me as my third guest could not make it.
We were able to play our practice round on Tuesday as they drove down from Fort Worth in time to have lunch before our tee time at 1:00 P.M. The weather was excellent, sunny with a slight breeze and we were ready to play. It was a warm afternoon and we became tired and our games were not the best. Good playing partners always makes for an enjoyable round even when the scores are not as good.
The next morning we arrived at the club house around 8:00 a.m. for registration and an array of breakfast goodies prepared by one of our members Sherry Sewell. We had time to practice some shots on the driving range and putting greens. We then were sent out to our designated holes as it was a shotgun start. The play was the best two balls of Gross and Net and our score cards were marked so we knew where we could take a stroke when needed. The weather turned a little chilly but great day to play golf even if the wind seemed to be in our face on every hole. My team was in good spirits and ready to play.
Following our round and turning in the score card we all went to the nearby dining room for a salad luncheon. Jackie Meinen and Shirley Schaffer my guest from Fort Worth were ready to relax and enjoy their meal. It is always nice to have a good time even though we did not come in as winners. A good way to finish off a nice meal was with the famous Stagecoach’s special dessert, the Strawberry Kiss.
There was a big display of gift baskets made up by one of our members Sherry Sewell. The Member/Guest Chairman Jane Wade and her committee were well organized as all their hard work paid off by a well attended tournament. We wish to thank them and all who helped put on a great golfing event.
My ebook “Golf is Forever” is now available. Check out this web site to find what it is about and how to order a copy.
