New Adam, New Eve

The wedding at Cana marked the beginning of Jesus´ ministry with his first sign of turning water into wine - the best wine. In Genesis, creation occurred. In the Gospel of John redemption was revealed, as were the new Adam (Jesus) and new Eve (Mary).

In John 19 Jesus entrusted Mary to John and John to Mary.

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother´s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son." Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (John 19: 25-27)

Some argue that Mary had other children, but Dr. Hahn said this proves she did not. He pointed out the fact that if she did, this would not have been something that was done nor accepted during that day and age. John became a spiritual brother. Jesus made Mary Mother of the Children of God.

Mary was holy in her silence as she watched her son endure what he came to Earth to do - to die for our sins. She was obedient through her silence. The first Eve was disobedient in her actions. Dr. Hahn told us that Mary´s soul was pierced when Jesus´ body was.

He asked us if you had the chance to create your mother immaculate, wouldn´t you? He exclaimed that Jesus did, and he did! He went on to explain what Jesus did he did for us - to give his glory to us. "Mary reflects the Glory of Christ like the moon reflects the brightness of the sun," he continued.

Through more Bible typology we learned that Mary could also be considered the Ark of the New Covenant and Queen, as well as the parallel between the kingships of Solomon and Jesus. In 2 Samuel, David found favor with God. The Son of David is later described as the Son of God. Solomon was the adopted Son of God and when he became King his mother (Queen Mother) sat at his right hand from the day he was crowned. When the new King was identified (Jesus), so was his mother. Solomon built a temple of rock; Jesus built his church upon a rock (Peter).

In 2 Maccabees 2:5-8, the Ark of the Covenant was hidden and won´t be found until God´s glory is fulfilled. John said in Revelation that the Ark was seen. Luke 1 and 2 Samuel 6 reveal much typology supporting Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant. Revelation 12 describes a woman... clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet. Dr. Hahn told us while this woman can be seen as symbolizing the Church; she is also still woman and can be identified as Mary. She was taken body and soul into heaven. Revelation 6 mentions the souls of saints, but chapter 12 tells us the woman has a body and soul. Christ assumed her into heaven. In closing Dr. Hahn said, "Mary is a Mother to discover."
