Walnut RV Park near Los Angeles
While visiting Los Angeles, I made a trek to several of the nearby RV parks to get a feel for them. One of these parks, Walnut RV Park, located about 30 minutes northwest of downtown Los Angeles in the suburb of Northridge, California, did not disappoint. Not only was it a clean and welcoming park, but the surrounding area was filled with everything an RV could ever want or need as far as amenities were concerned.

The Park
Walnut RV Park is a full-service RV park located conveniently near three major freeways and many tourist attractions. The park features a clubhouse with a full kitchen, heated swimming pool, and free WiFi throughout the park.

The day that I visited, a pleasant woman working at the front office filled me in with more details. She said that many of the park residents lived there year-round, which to me, was a testament to the park and the surrounding area. While she and I discussed the friendliness of the RV park community--almost as if on cue--a jovial full-time resident popped into the office just to chat. This fellow chimed in and agreed that he immensely enjoyed living in the park.

After talking for a while longer, the woman told me to feel free to take a walk around the park, which I gladly did. While strolling around I noticed that each of the sites was extremely spacious and many of them featured a shade tree. The streets were wide and the entire park emitted a very peaceful vibe.

Just Outside the Park
While driving through the town of Northridge, I couldn’t help noticing that the town had every service imaginable. From independently-owned and chain restaurants to multiple grocery store and bank chains and everything in between, a person could get the whole kit and caboodle without ever having to leave the town. In fact, everything-- including Walmart and the large Northridge Fashion Center Mall--is located within a five mile radius of the park. Which also means many of these places are within walking distance.

Close to the Action
Even though you wouldn’t have to leave the town, you would certainly want to because so many sensational attractions are within a 60 mile radius, including Disneyland (52 miles), Surfrider Beach in Malibu (24 miles), Santa Monica Pier ( 22 miles), the Hollywood sign (20 miles), Universal Studios (17 miles), the historic Farmers Market (23 miles) to name just a few.

In Summary
Walnut RV Park isn’t going to be the best fit for families needing activities to occupy the children, or Snowbirds seeking to fill their social calendar within the park. However, if you like a clean, quiet park that has friendly neighbors; is located within walking distance to many restaurants, shops and other services; is only a short drive to one of the coolest cities on the planet and some of the world’s best beaches, then Walnut RV Park might be just the place for you. Better make your reservations fast though—from what I could gather their affordable sites fill up pretty far in advance.
