Vision for 2012
As we prepare for 2012 to be ushered in, the Lord has placed two things on my heart: leadership and basics. With the passing of each era, we draw closer to the End Times. While I am not in the habit of jumping on the doomsday wagon, I do believe what is written in the Bible. The Bible states that there will be a falling away as the End Times draw closer and many people will turn from God. Some will be led astray by false prophets while others will turn to more worldly pursuits.
We are called to make disciples, baptize, and teach (Matthew 28: 19—20). Jesus did not delegate all authority just to preachers, but rather to all of his followers. It is our responsibility, as Christians, to share our conversion stories with others so that they, too, can learn about the forgiveness, love and redemption that are available in Christ Jesus. We are to share God’s promises and teach others to embrace the abundance of life that God intends for them.
In a normal month, four to five books are reviewed. My vision for Christian Literature in 2012 is to review at least one book per month on Christian leadership as well as one book that discusses a basic topic within Christianity. If we get back to the basics, we can stand firm in the Word. Unless you know what you believe and why you believe it, you will not be able to coherently express your faith. The leadership books are meant to assist in Christian development. The remaining book reviews will still feature fiction, new releases, and non-fiction. With enough interest, we would like to start a book club featuring either the “leadership” or “basics” book of the month. The selection of books will soon be posted in the forum. Please either post in the forum or message me if you are interested in participating in a book discussion group.
Please feel free to respond with your input either in the forum or by messaging me. I look forward to sharing the best….and, sometimes, not so good…in Christian Literature with you for another year!
