A recent One Life to Live episode featured Nora, Viki, and Marty sharing lunch and discussing their love lives. More to the point, they were discussing the lack of love they have in their lives. The scene made me think—are these three women the only people on ABC Daytime who are missing out on a little love? Characters like Jackson, Lulu, and Jessica all have more lovers or admirers than they need, while people like Jonathan, Max, and the three women mentioned earlier have no one. That leads me to the question: Who on ABC Daytime needs love the most?
In Pine Valley, the person most in need of love is Del Henry. Sure, he is a bit of a scoundrel, but he is so loveable! Newcomer Ava would be a good match for Del. Both characters seem ready and willing to use anyone else to get what they want. Why not use each other to ease their loneliness? They might be surprised at the love that develops between them. Someone other needs to think Del is wonderful—other than just Del!
Layla Williamson is a good candidate for love in Llanview. She had it, or was at least close to it, with Vincent. To her credit, Layla ended things with the shady Mr. Jones when she learned how he had set up and bet against her sister’s boyfriend. But that was months ago. All she has had since is a brief flirtation with Nash. Now that Nash and Jessica have admitted to and acted on their love, there is little chance that anything more than flirtation will ever exist between Layla and Nash. Perhaps she could help heal Antonio’s broken heart—once Jessica finally comes clean with him about her relationship with Nash.
No one in all of Port Charles deserves love more than mob bodyguard, Max. Max has been loyal to Sonny, even while secretly crushing on the mob boss’s wife. That he never made a move on Carly shows what kind of a man Max really is. Now his little brother, Milo, has come aboard and is involved in a rather odd love story, albeit as one of three possible suitors, vying for the affections of Lulu Spencer. But what about Max? When will he get a chance at love? It would probably help if Sonny wasn’t so quick to hop into bed with every new female that hits town. I sure hope that the writers bring on a woman who is worthy of Max’s attention and give him a story all his own.
