The Best of 2011

I consider it a true blessing to be able to read Christian books and pass on my recommendations. Each of the publicists, authors, and representatives who I deal with are greatly respected by me.

2011 proved to be a good year for books. If I had to choose my five favorites; however, it would be the following:

God's Guest List by Debbie Macomber

In a departure from secular romance novels, Debbie Macomber began to pen inspirational books. God's Guest List was her second such book. Encouraging her readers to open themselves to the handiwork of God, Macomber points out that God's blessings are often delivered by the common people we tend to overlook in our lives.

Swimming Solo by Susan Rava

Dealing with Alzheimers disease, Swimming Solo tells the story of one woman who not only has to face both of her parents succumbing to the dreaded disease but also her inlaws. Rava's poignant telling of the stories of their declines was both emotional and informational.

Lioness Arising by Lisa Bevere

In Lioness Arising Lisa Bevere tries to help women see the majesty we possess as daughters of the Living God. Drawing inferences between our lives and those of lionesses, Bevere encourages women to embrace their strength and begin living their destinies.

Discovery In The Desert by Tom Thiele

With SO many wonderful fiction books to choose from, it was difficult for me to pick just one. After much thought, the choice was Discovery In The Desert by Tom Thiele. A break-out novel, it was engaging and fun to read while delivering a concise biblical message.

Stained Glass Hearts by Patsy Clairmont

Unlike any other book that I have reviewed for this site, Stained Glass Hearts was very artistic and beautifully written. Clairmont used music, works of art, poetry, and literature to lead her reader on a journey to see the mightiness of God's work in the simplicity of nature and daily life. Fans of Patsy Clairmont's witty style will be pleasantly surprised by her candor and the beauty of her faith as she shares her thoughts.

A big THANK YOU to all of the authors, publicists, and agents for the books that you supplied this year. Thank you to the readers for letting me share my thoughts and recommendations. I look forward to reading more wonderful books in the upcoming year.
