A Margarita Scramble
Today we had our Ladies Golf Association at the Mill Creek Golf Course in Salado, Texas held its annual tournament we call the Margarita. This type of tournament has been on the schedule every year as the gals enjoy being part of this event. It is a fun day as playing in teams from A to D players which gives all players a chance to be involved. Yes a little Margarita tonic is available during play if you wish to indulge. We do not want to make this too serious as it is suppose to be fun and a chance to get acquainted with other players.
There was a planning committee team involved with making all the arrangements and with the sign up sheet we knew we would have 32 players with 8 foursomes. As always seems to happen some had to cancel and were sorry to miss them. There was also a sign up sheet for our members to bring a covered dish of Tex/Mex fare to be shared at a luncheon after play. There is always a jumble of golf carts jockeying for parking spots but we all got organized in good shape and were ready to play.
I had offered my home as a place to gather for the luncheon after the Scramble. I made sure I had sufficient seating arrangements for everybody and decorated in festive Mexican colors including a pinata. After playing the Scramble they all gathered here and were ready for a variety of the wonderful array of Tex/Mex dishes from salads, tamales, casseroles, cheese dips and a good selection of desserts
Since I live on the golf course we had a number who decided to have their lunch out on the patio.
This gave us all a chance to relax and visit about the golf game plus things in general. It soon was time for our leader who planned this great event to announce the winners. We had several who won golf balls for closest to the pin on several par three holes also the longest drive on a couple of holes. The team scores were all fairly close in, so our leader did a great job of pairing everybody from the A to D player. A good time was had by all, including more frozen Margarita’s available at the luncheon.
