Twenty-six year old Janet Phillips works as a Hospital Registration Clerk. This size 20 pirate-tess in the making and her sister share a home, and all the responsibilities that go with it, with their father.
Moe: Why did you become a Toil Girl?
Janet Phillips: I wanted to become a Toil Girl because I have always loved pin-up art. When I found Les Toil's artwork I was so impressed with his style of art and the fact that he specialized with BBW was a bonus. I knew I had to be one. Toil Girls are depicted with confidence and sensuality that I believe all women have hidden somewhere, no matter their size.
Moe: What does the imagery in your pin-up represent?
Janet Phillips: The imagery of my portrait represents my constant obsession with pirates, the beach, the ocean, and nature. From a very young age I had a fascination with pirates. I used to dream of possible past lives where I lived on the sea. As for the ocean and nature, I grew up going to the beach at a very early age and was in the water before I could walk. I prefer to be outside, be it in my front yard, at the beach, a park, or the mountains.
Moe: What has being a Toil Girl done for you personally?
Janet Phillips: Becoming a Toil Girl boosted my morale. I had been going through a rough time and when Les agreed to do my portrait I was ecstatic. My confidence was boosted through the roof.
Moe: What do you hope your image says to other plus size women?
Janet Phillips: I hope my image says to other plus sized women that everyone is sexy; it's all about the attitude you portray and confidence you exude.
Moe: What do you hope it says to men?
Janet Phillips: I hope men see my portrait and realize that a woman does not have to be thin to be sexy. I don't expect all men to see Les Toil's artwork and immediately be attracted to BBW. I hope they see it and realize it is more than being thin that makes a woman sexy.
Moe: Do you have any advice for someone thinking of becoming a Toil Girl?
Janet Phillips: For any woman who wants to become a Toil Girl... pursue it. It's definitely worth every penny.
