Beverley Mitchell - Review
You may know her as Lucy Camden on Seventh Heaven, but she is stretching her wings and has released her debut CD titled Beverley Mitchell. Anyone who has seen the show and heard her sing knows that she has some talent, but this CD lets it shine thru.
While not what I would classify as a country album, she did cowrite and record the CD in Nashville. To this listener it comes across more as a pop album than country, but it is not a bad listen. With her speaking voice a bit on the nasally side, I really didn't expect much from her recording voice, I admit she surprised me. She almost reminds me of Mindy McCready when she first hit the charts in the early part of her career.
Heaven On Earth Down Here is about growing up in a small town and it is her idea of heaven, hanging with friends and just enjoying life.
Rolling Down Sonora Avenue talks about being in Nashville but can't wait to get back to California and all it has to offer.
Walkin' is about wanting to go back to a relationship that isn't good for her. It's one of my favorite songs on the CD, it has a great beat and will get you to tapping your toes.
Someone Who Gets Me talks about finding someone that will let her be herself and not have to pretend to be someone else.
A real stand out song is the Let's Dream Like We Are Going to Live, it has a raw, emotionally charged sound and Beverley does a great job with it.
What Am I Doing Here is about trying to figure out what is happening in her life and what is she going to do with her life.
Black Is Black is about things being black or white, no shades of grey.
A Girls Just Got To Rock is about being young and heading out with your best girlfriend for a Chesney show and just enjoying life.
Nothin' Bout Nothin' talks about finding real love for the first time and how it taught her that she didn't really know anything before that happened.
You Didn't Kiss Me is a ballad that talks about a relationship that is ending and he didn't kiss her goodnight and she can't let it go.
Angel is about loving angels and how hard it is to let go.
Good Girls will be a hit with those girls that do their best to do what is expected of them but sometimes they need to let their hair down and get "crazy sometimes too".
The Ones Left Behind talks about staying strong for the ones left behind and bad things happening to good people.
