Rising From the Ashes of Divorce - Book Review
Divorce is the death of a marriage, and that can be extremely devastating. You may feel like you’ve lost your sense of self, and it can be difficult to get back into a routine when your entire life seems to be turned upside down. The future you imagined you’d have with your spouse is no longer a possibility, and that may be hard to accept. It can be very overwhelming and painful dealing with the many changes resulting from divorce, but you can find joy and fulfillment in your life again.
Rising from the Ashes of Divorce is a book written by Beth Tiger. On the cover is the description, “Reclaiming your life and healing your spirit after the painful journey of separation & divorce.” The cover illustration is very attractive and fitting with a vibrantly colored rising phoenix. The book is designed to be an eight week spiritual workbook, with questions to be answered, assignments, prayers, affirmations, and quotes from inspirational people.
I found the book to be an easy read without a workbook feel, which I liked. I looked forward to every chapter, and it was hard to dedicate a week to each one because I was so excited by what I was reading that I wanted to jump ahead. The chapters covered the importance of learning lessons from our experiences, acceptance, forgiveness, love, emotions, what we value in our lives, strengthening our relationship with God or Source, and more. I found the prayers at the end of each chapter and the intermittent affirmations to be positive and comforting.
Beth writes with understanding and encouragement, having been through a divorce herself. Her words help to steady the nerves and to give one hope. There is a great deal of emphasis on spiritual healing and recovery, and focusing on oneself to become empowered and to really live again. I find this book to be not only beneficial to anyone who is going through a divorce, but also to those who have suffered other serious life events such as the loss of an intimate partner due to death. Beth’s book helps to restore balance within and will inspire you to heal, grow, and find happiness and peace in your life again.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I learned a great deal about myself in the process. It was a very beneficial read after having been through the experiences of divorce and also the death of an intimate partner. Rising from the Ashes of Divorce is all I had hoped it would be and more, and I highly recommend it.
A copy of this book was sent to me at no charge by the author for purpose of review.
