How to Get a Cruise Ship Job
Sit back and imagine getting paid to travel to the most exciting and exotic destinations on earth! Visit the Pacific, Canada, Hawaii, Europe, South America, the Arctic, Alaska, Africa, Australia, the Caribbean - even the Far East!
What would your friends say when you tell them that you are going off to work on a ship that travels 12 nights on the European cruise trip of a lifetime. Not just one trip of twelve nights but many trips - over three or four months worth!! Yes - you sign a contract for each three or month tour of "duty".
I wish it was as easy to just say to go to Amazon.com and get this or that book for $20 or $25 that will show you what to do and how to apply to get your dream job. But it is not that easy. Most of the infomation that is available is way out of date. Needless to say there is not a web site you can go to that has a listing of these jobs posted. I found one book that was written in the last 10 years (December, 2004) on Amazon: Cruise Ship Jobs . And I only found one website that has current information on these types of jobs posted. You either have to be an insider or know an insider, to get on the list of people who get these sort of jobs.
There are lots of jobs available each year; as many as 15,000 vacancies just to keep up with all of the mega ships being launched by Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, NCL, Holland America, and Cunard. While 15,000 job vacancies sounds like a lot, there are tens times that number of people from all over the world trying to get into the business. However, once you are in, you may have cruise lines calling you to see if you want to work for them.
I did come across a package that offers a complete kit to getting a job on a cruise line right down to a searchable database of cruise lines and even a software package that is an instant cruise ship job, cover letter generator.
So I was surprised to find this website on Cruise Ship Jobs with up to date information and tips to land one of these terrific jobs. The site is written by Neil Maxwell-Keys Cruise Ship Job Website. Neil was a hiring specialist for one of the leading cruise ship companies.
The course is $57 and comes with a 60 day money back guarantee. If you get a job, drop me a line. I'd like to interview you for a future article.
Despite the economy I hope you are travelling and enjoying yourself. Until next time, let me know what is on your mind, and how you are doing, O.K.?
