Apple Fingerplays and Songs

Apple Fingerplays and Songs
Fall and apples go hand in hand! Enjoy these apple themed songs and fingerplays with your preschooler!

"Three Red Apples"- song and hand movements

Way up high in an apple tree (children extend arms high above their head like a tree)
Three red apples smiled at me (children should smile and point to their mouth)
I shook that tree with all my might (children should circle their hands like they have a hold of the tree and make a shaking motion)
Then down came the apples ( children should wave hands up to down like apples are falling)
Red and juicy, what a delight! (children can either rub their tummy, or mimic crunching a juicy delicious apple)

Did You Ever See An Apple?
To the tune of "Did You Ever See A Lassie?"

Did you ever see an apple,
An apple, an apple?
Did you ever see an apple,
High up on a tree?
There are red ones and yellow ones,
And green ones and pink ones.
Did you ever see an apple,
High up in a tree?

Ten Little Apples- a counting fingerplay

Ten shiny apples crisp and sweet, (children should hold up ten fingers.)
Were ready to be picked and ready to eat! (children can mimic picking an apple off a tree and eating it)
The wind was strong on one Fall day, (children can move like the wind and sway back and forth)
And one shiny apple blew away. (children can pantomime seeing an apple get blown away)
Now there were nine apples left on the tree,
Waiting to be picked by you and me.

Nine shiny apples crisp and sweet....*continue the same verse (altering the number of fingers being held up, until you reach one apple left and then use the verse below:

One shiny apple crisp and sweet, (children should hold up 1 finger)
Is ready to be picked and ready to eat! (children can mimic picking an apple off a tree and eating it)
The wind was strong on one Fall day, (children can move like the wind and sway back and forth)
And the one apple left almost blew away. (children can pantomime concern that the apple could get blown away)
Suddenly the wind stopped, and I reached up high (children can pantomime reaching up to pick the apple)
And picked the last apple to use in my pie! (children can act out rejoicing over getting the apple, or making a pie)
