I Will Be Good To Myself - A Mantra for Self-Care
I think that in all probability one of the most overlooked relationships is the relationship with your self. How is your relationship with you?
We all worry about how others perceive us but how do we perceive ourselves? Are we realistic about our own self assessments? Are we too critical? Do we have a poor self-image? Do we lack self-esteem? Do we believe that we are not worthy of being treated well and to prove it we neglect ourselves and treat ourselves poorly? And how does our self-image impact on our other relationships?
So often when a couple breaks up it is very apparent to family and friends that one or both of the partners has a poor self image. Perhaps it is difficult to care fully for another when you can’t even care for yourself. Maybe this makes a person too needy in a relationship with another person and maybe that makes them seem like a burden to their partner.
In our times with all of it’s pressures to excel at everything it’s sometimes hard to feel whole, and well, and self-confident, and to be satisfied with the real authentic you; but maybe a good place to start is by telling yourself everyday to be good to yourself. This Mantra is a reminder to remember to treat your self with tender loving care.
I will be good to myself and treat myself with tender loving care!
I will be at least as good to myself as I am to everyone else.
I will be realistic about my own self assessments.
I will be less needy of others approval and more self-confident.
I will be good to myself and treat myself with tender loving care!
I will be able to look beyond my present and prepare for my future.
I will be sure to surround myself with people who treat me with the same concern and respect as I treat them with.
I will be sure to remind myself everyday that perfection is overrated.
I will be good to myself and treat myself with tender loving care!
I will be able to tell the difference between being selfish and being self caring.
I will be sure to care about my own happiness as well as that of others.
I will be satisfied with my best version of the real authentic me.
I will be good to myself and treat myself with tender loving care!
Just maybe, a good way to build good relationships with others is to also build a good relationship with your self.
