Laura Therese is here!
My water broke at 8:15pm on Wednesday, September 20, 2006. I wasn't too sure if it did because it wasn't a total break. We called the doctor and he said come in to check it out.
We (mostly Israel) ran around and packed. I didn't pack yet because I didn't expect her to come at 37 weeks. Ironically, I planned on packing on Thursday. We arrived at the hospital at 10.
The doctor checked me and took a test that showed mixed results. He wasn't sure if I was in labor. After monitoring my contractions for a bit, it was determined that I was in labor. My contractions were regular at 4-5 minutes apart and pretty strong. I didn't realize how strong they were. To me, it felt like moderate cramps.
In about an hour, I was two centimeters dilated and just felt moderately uncomfortable. Along with the doctor, anesthesiologist we decided a c section was for the best due to spasticity and needle location. Israel barely had enough time to call family and tell them that Laura would be born very soon. Getting the c section was scary but the end result is a beautiful baby girl.
The doctors let Israel come in the operating room and put me on the table. They also let him hold me still when they were giving me the spinal. It took him and a few other people to hold me. The spinal did not hurt really.
Laura was born at 2:58 AM on September 21, 2006. She weighed 5 pounds and 12 ounces and 19in long. She's absolutely beautiful and peaceful.
