Bristol / Kingsport KOA Campground Review
The Bristol/Kingsport KOA Campground at 425 Rocky Branch Road, Blountville, Tennessee is located just off the Interstate Highway 81 at exit 63, 12 miles south of Bristol. As one leaves Highway 81, go west 0.3 miles past the Citgo gas station, take a left on Pearl Lane, then make another left on Rocky Branch Road and follow the signs. It is the second campground one would see. One can make reservations at: (800)562-7640 or (423)323-7790.
Joe and Ann Swinney, who bought the park in 2010, do more than go out of their way to make everyone's stay a pleasant experience. They make everyone feel as if they have known them their whole life. There is always a warm and friendly face to greet every guest. Since purchasing the park, the Swinney's have made many upgrades and improvements. Their hard work and genuine concern for their customers have earned the 2012 Presidents Award from KOA. The award is given for exceptional quality standards and outstanding customer service. I have stopped at this campground on many occasions and Bristol/Kingsport KOA is on my favorites list when I travel in this part of Tennessee.
I would recommend anyone traveling to a new location for the first time to locate one's site before dark and escort services are provided during office hours at this campground. If someone is a seasoned traveler and is pulling into the campground after dark, one will find it well-marked and easy to see. One of the best features of this particular campground is the long, pull through, RV lots which are relatively level. It can accommodate rigs up to 100 feet in length. The utilities are easy to find in one central location and have both
30 amp. & 50 amp. services available.
Camping cabins are available for rent. A centrally located bath house is convenient to both RV and tent sites. Other impressive amenities in this beautifully landscaped environment include: a wonderful stone fireplace inside an outdoor living area, complete with large screen TV, a stone bon-fire pit in a community setting, rustic outdoor furniture and decks on some sites. Located in the office area, one will find a convenience store with just about anything one could need or have forgotten. The snack bar will make everyone's dinner after a long day on the road offering pizza and barbeque.
Although most campgrounds have pet walks, this one goes a bit further in accommodating pet owners. The park has a totally enclosed pet exercise and play area. This allows everyone to let their pets run unhindered with time to stretch the pet's legs after a long traveling period. In consideration for other pet loving campers, the park does require that everyone clean up after their pet when they have finished their business.
For entertainment they feature: two playgrounds for the kids, a jumping pillow, a swimming pool, pony rides and a game room including a pool table. During the summer months they offer: Karaoke nights, themed weekend events, free Saturday pancake breakfast, Coffee Corral crafters hour, hay-rides and an ice cream social.
There are many attractions nearby: the Bristol Motor Speedway, the Bristol Caverns, Jonesborough’s Historic District, the Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park, the Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium, the Hand’s On! Regional Museum, the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site, and the Netherland Inn which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The campground is only about two hours from Gatlinburg and Dollywood as well. There is much to keep everyone busy and entertained.
If anyone plans to travel to this area of Tennessee, I urge one to put this campground on their favorites list. I have stayed in this KOA on several occasions. I was very pleased with both the facilities and service every time. One thing that stands out about this park is the lack of noise. Many other parks are closer to the highway and have a lot of traffic noise which can hinder sleep. I reviewed this campground as a normal customer passing through and using it's facilities. It was reviewed without any prior knowledge to the owners or any special consideration and is not a paid endorsement.
