Serotonin - Kaz and Bentley/ w Johnny Devine
Serotonin: An amino compound substance that is produced from tryptophan and found in many animal tissues, including the intestine and central nervous system. In the brain, serotonin, along with adrenaline, acts as a neurotransmitter that is involved in the control of pain perception, the sleep-wake cycle, and mood.
Serotonin: Michael Shane (Matthew Bentley) and Frankie Kazarian, a former tag team in the TNA Impact wrestling company.
Serotonin was compromised of two men and sometimes three when Johnny Devine wrestled with them. They are Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian, better known as Maverick Matt and Kazarian or just Kaz now and as is becoming the norm for wrestling companies today, they have been wasted and then eventually disbanded. Serotonin had the potential to be a great tag team and was definitely tag team championship material.
Michael Shane, born Matthew Bentley, is a cousin to WWE legend Shawn Michaels and was also trained for wrestling by Shawn Michaels. His trainers also included Rudy Boy Gonzales and Paul Diamond. Bentley even uses HBK’s super kick as his finishing move also. He competed in the X Division when he joined TNA in 2003 and won the X Division title in the very first Ultimate X Match. Later that year he joined forces with Traci Brooks and Shane Douglas, forming the team of the New Franchise. In 2004, Bentley would lose the title to Chris Sabin and the New Franchise disbanded when Bentley turned on Shane Douglas. Traci Brooks remained with Bentley as his valet. They would soon join forces with Kazarian and form the team of…get ready for this…Shazarian.
Frankie Kazarian, Kaz, was first trained by the famous Killer Kowalski in Massachusetts and was later trained by Bill Anderson and Jesse Hernandez. In 200, he joined an independent organization called the UPW and in an interesting sidebar used to free style rap with John Cena and Samoa Joe while they were in UPW together. He joined TNA in 2003 and wrestled in the X Division and was in the first Ultimate X match along with Bentley and Sabin. Sabin was soon stripped of the title after being sidelined with an injury and Kazarian would win the title in a tournament. He wrestled in the WWE for a very short time after leaving TNA on good terms and also holds the distinction of being the first TNA X Division champion to be on an active WWE roster.
In 2006, he and Bentley would adopt a “Goth-like” look and join Johnny Devine as a part of Raven’s Flock and went by the name Serotonin. Kaz would be the first member of Serotonin to be an insurgent against Raven and would eventually leave the Flock in 2007.
He would then have a short feud with Robert Roode because of his treatment of Miss Brooks. He would then go on to win the tag team championship with Super Eric, only to drop them even quicker when Super Eric told Jim Cornette that he couldn’t take his mask off. Kaz has since said that he is leaving TNA but it will apparently be for a short time as he is supposed to come back with a mask and join the “Brotherhood of Justice” with Super Eric, Curry Man and Shark Boy. That is too bad because Kaz is an outstanding wrestling talent and should be used as such.
Bentley left TNA in 2007 when his contract was up and not renewed. He then formed a band with his friends called “Lost in Chaos” and wrestled earlier this year on Smackdown in a dark match against Vladimir Kozlov. The match was a squash and Bentley lost.
