Jewels of Passion Book Review
This coffee table hard covered book has 176 pages of full color examples of Hobe, Coro, Carnegie, Ciner, Eisenberg, Haskell, Weiss, D&E among others. Well organized and presented, Sherri has given us the opportunity to meet her and her “extended family” through her jewelry. When I shop at antique stores for vintage treasures I often wonder who owed these pieces before I came upon them. Was their value sentimental? Where were they worn and on what special occasion?? Sherri teaches us how to wear our “riches”….EVERYDAY!!
From her family to her clients to her co-workers Sherri tells her story using jewelry collecting as the medium. This makes an interesting mix; it is refreshing to see someone share themselves in such a way with so many individuals.
Just as I often wonder about the previous owner of vintage pieces I’m sure Sherri will leave her fantastic aura attached to all the marvelous examples of fine vintage jewelry from days gone by. Wonderful memories will connect themselves to pieces worn daily and of course, on those very special occasions.
I found this book to be truly unique and one of a kind. I highly recommend adding this book to your library collection. I know I will use it as a reference source as well as a touching reminder that life is what we make of it….who we surround ourselves with, and how we share it.
I hope I have tantalized you enough with a sprinkling of some of the quality photos and pieces you will find tucked inside Jewels of Passion!
A bit about the author: Sherri Duncan has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine a degree she obtained from Michigan State University. Deby Roberts and Sherri connected through meeting at an antique store they both frequent- Deby supplied vintage pieces and Sherri was seeking pieces….sound like a match made in heaven and they have become dear friends. Deby has taught Sherri much about collecting vintage jewelry and she helps Sherri find the very best pieces to add to her collection.
